The 1702 still looks right to me, but it also takes half the desk and hums just enough to notice at night. I have settled into using a scaler most days and bringing out the CRT when I want the full mood.
Anyone else stopped trying to choose one forever?

Same arrangement. Convenience gets me to use the machine more; the CRT makes planned sessions feel special.
